Transfer Admission Requirements
Admission to BGSU for transfer students is determined by their college academic credentials. Students with fewer than 24 semester hours (or 36 quarter hours) of college-level coursework will be considered for admission on both high school and college academic credentials.
A student who is not admissible based on high school credentials should complete at least 24 semester hours (or 36 quarters hours) of college-level courses before applying as a transfer student. ACT or SAT results are not required.
A student in good standing at another college or university is considered for transfer admission if:
- the student has earned at least 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale; or
- the student has earned fewer than 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; or
- the student has earned an associate degree.
A student who has completed fewer than 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) and whose cumulative grade point average is between 2.0 and 2.5 may appeal for admission. After evaluation of the student's completed admissions credentials, an appeal form will be sent to the student. Upon return to BGSU of the completed appeal form, an admission recommendation is made by the dean of the college to which the student is applying, in consultation with the director of admissions. Appeals will not be sent after the application deadline has passed.
A student who does not meet the above requirements AND who has not attended another college or university for one or more years may be considered for probationary admission by appealing to the dean of the college to which the student is applying. An appeal form will be sent to the student after an evaluation of the student's credentials is completed. Appeals for probationary admission will not be sent after the application deadline has passed.
Transfer students must demonstrate competence in English/writing, mathematics and reading before advancing to sophomore and junior standings.
