Financing Your Education: Scholarships
BGSU works hard to provide students with a variety of financial resources and payment options to meet their educational costs. As a special offer to transfer students, the Office of Admissions is providing two financial incentives. Students who are eligible for both will receive the higher of the two incentives. Non-Ohio residents may also qualify for the BG Success Scholarship which provides one-half off the nonresident fee.

FAQ's

A: Phi Theta Kappa is a National Honor Society for students attending a community college. You must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa to qualify for the Transfer Excellence Incentive. Students who have membership in other honor societies are not eligible.
Q: Can incentives be "stacked" so that students falling into multiple categories receive more than one award?
A: No. Students will receive only the highest Transfer Incentive for which they are eligible. Out-of-state students can, however, also receive the BG Success Scholarship.
Q: What colleges must a student transfer from to be eligible for the Ohio Community/Technical College Transfer Incentive?
Any Ohio community or technical college. Students at a branch or regional campus of a four year school are not eligible.
Q: Can incentives be utilized at BGSU Firelands?
A: No. These incentives are only available for main campus transfer students.
Q: Are any of these incentives renewable?
A: No. All incentives are one year only. The BG Success Scholarship for non-Ohio residents is renewable.
Q: Are students admitted to online degree programs (ATE, BLS, RN-BSN) eligible for these incentives?
A: Yes.
Q: Is there a deadline for these incentives?
A: It is the same as the application for admission and credential deadline date (May 15 for Summer Session, July 15 for Fall, and December 1 for Spring)
Q: Are part time students eligible for these incentives?
A: Yes. Students must be enrolled for at least six semester hours each term to receive award. Students must be full-time for the BG Success Scholarship.
Q: Are international students eligible for these incentives?
A: Yes, if they have an associate degree or are members of Phi Theta Kappa. The BG Success Scholarship may also be available.
Q: I am a full time BGSU faculty or staff member eligible for an employee fee waiver. Am I eligible for a transfer award?
A: No. Transfer awards are for instructional fees, and your employee fee waiver already covers the full instructional fee.
